Alleged Fraud: Ex-minister Alison-Madueke’s absence stalls her arraignment

The absence of former petroleum resources minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, stalled her scheduled arraignment in the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo on Monday.
The former minister, currently based in the United Kingdom, is facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, fraud and illegal act of accepting and giving gratifications alongside former Chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Company, Olajide Omokore.
Consequently, Justice Valentine Ashi fixed Monday, March 4, for the arraignment of the two defendants, having issued bench warrant for Mrs Alison-Madueke arrest earlier.
The counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Faruk Abdullahi, told the court the arraignment of the duo would not hold as the former minister and her co-accused were not in court.
Mr Abdullahi explained the anti-graft agency had forwarded a request to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, for onward commencement of the process for Mrs Alison-Madueke’s repatriation from the United Kingdom.
He said the absence of the second defendant (Omokore) was linked to the commission’s inability to serve him with the court’s processes.
The prosecutor, therefore, prayed the court for a further adjournment to enable the team to tidy up its house.
Counsel to Mr Omokore, Adeniyi Adegbonmire, a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), said although his client was prepared to stand trial, the right process to commence the trial must be adhered to.
“My Lord, the prosecution appears not to be diligent with the prosecution of this case. In fact, I was the one who informed him this morning that my client was not served,” he said.
Justice Ashi held the prosecution has no excuse not to have served the second defendant who was in the country.
According to the judge, the EFCC must show diligence in pursuing the case or be prepared to discontinue it.
The judge, therefore, adjourned the case until May 22 for further hearing.
Messrs Alison-Madueke and Omokore are billed to be arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy and illegal acts of accepting and giving bribe.
EFCC averred that the accused persons had conspired at different levels to commit the fraud.
The anti-graft body further alleged that the ex-minister accepted gift of properties, described as “Penthouse 22, Block B, Admiralty Estate, Ikoyi”, and “Penthouse 21, Building 5, Block C, Banana Island, Lagos.”
The EFCC said the alleged offence contravened the provisions of Sections 26(1) and 17 of the EFCC Act, 2000.
On December 5, 2018, Justice Ashi ordered the police, EFCC, Department of State Services (DSS), and others to produce Mrs Alison-Madueke in court within 72 hours.
Justice Ashi gave the order, following an ex parte motion made before the court by the counsel to the anti-graft agency.

I married another woman because my wife starved me of sex, man tells court

Opeyemi Babatunde, an Ibadan-based security officer, on Monday, told Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan, that his wife forced him to marry another woman because she starved him of sex for seven years.
Responding to his wife’s allegation of constant battery, unfair treatment and irresponsibility, Mr Opeyemi informed the court that he consented to part ways with his wife Eunice Babatunde because of her terrible way of life.
“My lord, for seven years now, Eunice has refused to allow me to have sexual intercourse with her, leaving me with no other option than to look elsewhere to satisfy my sexual urge.
“Before she finally stopped consenting to my sexual advances, Eunice dictated the time I must touch her, sometimes once in two weeks, or a month.
“I eventually married another woman whom I got accommodation for outside, but she requested that I bring my new wife home.
“Besides, Eunice has become a witchdoctor in my matrimonial home, because of her actions.
“At various times in the house, I have caught her making incantations and mixing substances into black soap and native sponge.
“To confirm what I am saying, ask Eunice to open her dress and you will find all sorts of incisions all over her body.’’
Babatunde also accused his estranged wife of infidelity.
“As if that is not enough, Eunice is engaged in prostitution. In fact, her lovers call her day and night, even in my presence.
“Can you believe that she even followed a man named Lolade, one of her secret lovers to Lagos state recently, where they enjoyed each other for three good days?
“I have been buying food stuff myself and I have been responsible,” Opeyemi stated.
Earlier, Eunice, a nurse had petitioned the court to put an end to the union with her husband.
In addition to the allegation of battery and irresponsibility which the plaintiff leveled against her husband, she also wanted the court to compel the respondent to stop threatening her life.
“My lord, apart from the fact that Opeyemi frequently beats me, he does not cater for our two children’s education and feeding.
“Opeyemi does not want me to progress, because immediately he got to know that I have started building my own house, his behavior changed totally and he began to hate me.
“He has been searching everywhere for my pictures, definitely, he wants to do something diabolic to me.
“Opeyemi is indebted to me to the tune of N190, 000 which I borrowed him to buy a car; and he has only refunded N30, 000.
“Worse still, he only caters for his new wife and child, thus abandoning my own children,” Eunice accused her husband.
The Court’s President, Ademola Odunade, however, observed that Opeyemi was indeed a wicked husband who never cared for his wife and children.
Odunade advised men to stop maltreating their wives and children, so as to earn God’s favour.
“In the interest of peace, the union between Eunice and Opeyemi has ceased to be.
“Custody of the two children produced by the union, is awarded to Eunice; and Opeyemi is hereby ordered to pay N10, 000 as the children’s monthly feeding allowance.
“The respondent shall also be responsible for their education and other welfare,” the arbitrator said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the plaintiff and the respondent live at Alomaja Area of Ibadan.

My husband raped my three daughters, trader tells court

“I did not know what was going on, it was when he assaulted my third daughter
Tope Ogba on Monday told an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offence Court, that he her husband Mr Gabriel, allegedly raped their two adult daughters.
Led in evidence by K. A. Momoh-Ayokambi, the Lagos state prosecutor, Tope also alleged that her husband raped their underage daughter and almost set her ablaze when she reported him to the authorities.
Gabriel, is charged with sexually molesting his daughters who are 25, 20 and 13-years-old at their residence at Oke-Ogbe town, Atura Bus stop, Badagry Lagos.
Tope told the court that she was unaware of the sexual molestation which had gone on for an unspecified number of years until it was revealed by the youngest daughter.
She said: “I did not know what was going on, it was when he assaulted my third daughter that I got to know what was going on and I later heard about the assault of my older daughters from people outside.
“When I asked my older daughters about the rumours, they initially denied it, I got to know about the assault of my third daughter from her teacher.
“I confronted my husband, he said that it was a gang up and conspiracy against him by our daughters, I told him that a young child cannot come up with such allegations against him.
“Ever since I confronted him, I have had no peace at home. He beats and threaten me.”
The trader said a month after he was reported to the authorities, he became aggressive towards her.
While being cross-examined by E. Obelu, Gabriel’s defence counsel, Tope said she did not know when the sexual molestation of her daughters began.
“I do not know when he started molesting our daughters. I have been the breadwinner of the family.
Following Tope’s testimony, her third daughter who is 13-years-old testified against her father.
During her testimony, Justice Sururat Soladoye, ordered that everyone in the courtroom gallery should vacate due to the witness being underage.
Following the teenager’s testimony, the case was adjourned until March 7, for continuation of trial.

Elections: EU observers laud Nigerians, civil society organisations’ role

Y
The European Union Elections Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Nigeria has commended Nigerians and the civil society organisations for their “role in enhancing the transparency and accountability of the electoral process.”
Maria Arena, the mission’s Chief Observer, made the commendation at the presentation of the mission’s preliminary report on Monday in Abuja.
Ms Arena said in spite of the fact that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) operated in a difficult environment, there was a significant improvement since 2015.
“The civil society organisations played a vital role in enhancing transparency and accountability of the electoral process.
“Going forward, there is a great need for more transparency and communication during the whole process, with political parties, civil society organisations, the media and most importantly citizens playing significant roles.
“The elections were marked by operational shortcomings resulting in delays, but positively, there were a number of improvements since 2015,’’ she said.
Ms Arena said that the elections were competitive, while the candidates campaigned freely and voters’ turnout was impressive in spite of the last minute postponement of the elections.
“The last-minute postponement of the elections and the delayed to start voting on February 23 placed an unfriendly burden on voters.
“However, campaigns were free throughout the campaign process and voters seemed to overcome logistic burdens from the postponement,” the observer said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on the Election Day, 91 EU observers witnessed the opening, voting and closing processes in 261 polling units.
Also, they witnessed the collation of results in 94 centres across 31 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

AU, EU, other foreign observers speak on Saturday’s elections

Five international election observation missions to Nigeria on Monday in Abuja presented their assessments of the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections.
The observation missions are of the African Union (AU), International Republican Institute/National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA).
The others are the Commonwealth and the European Union Observation Mission (EU EOM).
In separate conferences which lasted an hour each, the foreign missions explained that the report was an initial statement on the elections as final collations and announcement of results were still ongoing.
In its report, the EU EOM commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the conduct of the elections. It said the electoral commission made a number of improvements since 2015, including continuous accreditation and voting.
The mission’s Chief Observer, Maria Arena, however, said there was only limited opportunity for Nigeria’s Internally Displaced Persons persons to vote.
While stating that the initial postponement of the elections showed serious difficulties with INEC’s operations, she said many polling units opened very late on election day.
“On election day, the majority of polling units opened extremely late, leaving voters waiting for hours uncertain of when voting would begin.
“The delay, due to a lack of materials, was compounded by an absence of public information from INEC about what was happening and whether closing time would be extended. As a result, there was confusion and we observed that some people were put off from voting,” she said.
Ms Arena said the mission’s monitoring media found out that federal government-owned radio as well as leading commercial broadcasters at the national and regional levels, divided airtime between the main parties, APC and PDP.
“This left little space for smaller parties. There was clear partisan programming by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), state-run media and local commercial radio stations owned by politicians.
“With the exception of a few states, voters had limited access to diverse and factual information on which to make an informed choice,” she explained.
She called for more transparency and better communication during the whole process with political parties, civil society, the media and the citizens.
In its findings, the AU observed that the political space has significantly broadened, as evidenced by the high number of registered voters, political parties and candidates who took part in the elections.
It said despite some reports of election-related violence, deaths and intimidation, the overall political climate remained largely peaceful and conducive for the conduct of democratic elections.
The mission regretted that key electoral reforms proposed after the 2015 elections were still not passed into law. It, however, commended the Nigerian Government for the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Act
The AU also commended the fact that the 2019 elections were internally driven, and largely funded by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
It also recognised efforts by the INEC, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and other stakeholders to increase participation of women, youth and persons with disability (PWDs) in the electoral process.
“In particular, it notes that women and youth recorded a high number of registered voters, 47.14 per cent for women and 51.1 per cent for youth, which is a notable increase compared to the 2015 elections.
“While there was a slight increase in the number of women presidential candidates, overall, women’s participation as candidates remains low. For instance, of the 73 presidential candidates, only three were women two of whom withdrew their candidature.
“Concerning youth, the AUEOM observed that several young people were recruited as candidates and polling staff. This demonstrates a commendable level of youth mobilization for political participation.”
It commended CSOs like YIAGA AFRICA, the Women Situation Room (WSR) and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) as it said the active involvement of these organisations helped to raise awareness among voters and reinforced the transparency and credibility of the electoral process.
Noting that although there were reports of bomb blasts and election violence in some parts of the country, the AU said the collaborative relationship between INEC and the lnter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) contributed to the generally peaceful elections.
For closing and counting, it said “38 per cent of the voting points observed did not close at 2 p.m due to late opening. Voters on the queue at closing time were allowed to vote.”
While calling on political parties and candidates to adhere to the two peace accords signed in December 2018 and February 2019, it encouraged them to use the legal instruments at their disposal to seek redress in case of any grievances over the election results.
It urged INEC to address the consistent postponement of elections as well as strengthen the capacity of polling staff through training on assisting voters, counting and other electoral procedures.
It called on Nigerians and other stakeholders to act responsibly in the use of social media and refrain from disseminating false information on the elections, particularly the results.
The IRI in a joint conference with NDI stated that it is the people of Nigeria who will determine the credibility of the elections and urged political parties and candidates to cooperate in good faith with INEC
In his statement, the African Regional Director, IRI, said the failure to enact the amended Electoral Act was a missed opportunity for codifying recent improvements in election processes.
He also said the absence of internal democracy within political parties continues to hinder women and youth from rising within their ranks and running as candidates for elected office and the last-minute delay of the presidential and legislative elections in the early hours of election day on February 16 also contributed to voter apathy and the lowering of confidence in the election commission.
For electoral improvements since 2015, he mentioned advances for youth, women and persons with disabilities, consolidation of electoral advances and Nigerian-led initiatives to support credible elections.
He said the persisting challenges include weak internal democracy within political parties, unfulfilled promises of electoral reform, slow resolution of election disputes, multiple sources of insecurity, hate speech, disinformation and last minute postponement of elections.
The NDI President, Derek Mitchell, urged the federal government to ensure adequate security to support and protect INEC deployment and voter engagement as the governorship election approaches.
He called on INEC to intensify communication and outreach to the Nigerian public and relevant stakeholders in the electoral process as well as improve plans for distribution of sensitive materials.
“To political candidates, respect the rule of law and call on supporters to remain peaceful. Refrain from disseminating false information and channel electoral complaints through the established legal process.
“To security agencies, maintain the highest level of professionalism and work with INEC to investigate electoral offences and take appropriate measures to sanction offenders,” he said.
EISA, whose election observations were not different from the others, gave recommendations to security agents and INEC.
Rupiah Bandah, former President of the Republic of Zambia and mission leader of EISA, urged the electoral commission to investigate the incidences of the fire outbreaks at INEC facilities and account on the cause of the fire.
He also urged the agents to provide maximum security for election materials in transit as well as investigate incidents of violence reported on election day.
“To INEC, provide welfare for polling officials and ad-hoc staff before and during the election day and conduct refresher training of all the elections staff.
“Provide copies of training manuals to all polling units for easy reference. Introduce a process of sorting ballots before counting in a systematic way and train queue controllers in all polling units to contribute to the orderliness of the process,” he said.
Jakaya Kikwete, former president of United Republic of Tanzania and Chairperson of the Commonwealth observer group, like others, decried the delay in distribution of materials and late opening of polls on election day.
He also said his mission observed problems with the Smart Card Readers and that many polling officials, security staff and other essential workers were unable to vote and were, therefore, disenfranchised.
Impressed by the hard work and dedication of polling staff, he noted that many would have benefitted from more comprehensive training in polling procedures.
“During sorting and counting, the determination of invalid votes was often vigorously contested by party agents and members of the public due to lack of understanding as to what constituted an invalid vote.
“This was a highly contested election. There was a significant increase in the number of political parties and presidential candidates although in practice the campaign was dominated by the two major parties,” he said.
While noting some progress in increasing women’s political participation in all elective offices, he commended the role played by the media in covering the elections.
The presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday. While the winners of some senatorial districts and federal constituencies have been announced, collations are still on-going in some parts of the country.
The winner of the presidential election is also yet to be announced.
The governorship and house of assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, March 9.

Nigeria orders oil multinationals to pay nearly $20 billion in taxes

The Nigerian government has ordered a number of non-Nigerian oil and gas companies to pay nearly $20 billion in taxes.
Reuters news agency reported Thursday that the move could deter investment in Africa’s largest economy.
Quoting industry and government sources, the news medium said the taxes are allegedly owed to local states.
Details of the demand are contained in a letter sent to the companies earlier this year via a debt-collection arm of the government, wherein the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp (NNPC) cited what it called outstanding royalties and taxes for oil and gas production.
The affected oil companies include Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Eni, Total and Equinor. The firms were each asked to pay the Nigerian government between $2.5 billion and $5 billion, sources who saw or were briefed on the letters told Reuters.
PREMIUM TIMES’ efforts to confirm the details from the NNPC proved futile Thursday night, as the corporation’s spokesperson, Ndu Ughamadu, could not be reached.
But Reuters reports that the request were however confirmed by Norway’s Equinor, which produced around 45,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil in Nigeria in 2017.
“Several operators have received similar claims in a case between the authorities in Nigeria and local authorities in parts of the country,” an Equinor spokesman said.
On its part, Exxon said it “is currently reviewing the matter”, according to a spokeswoman of the U.S. company.
The affected companies were expected to dispute their respective payment claims. Already, Equinor has said that it sees no merit to the case.
Nigeria, Africa’s biggest oil and gas producer, has in place several oil exploration mechanisms, including joint venture and production-sharing agreement with which oil companies develop and operate giant offshore fields.
The companies pay the government in the form of royalties and tax.
The Nigerian government has however had challenges with its own provision of cash calls in some of the agreements signed with the oil firms.
The new tax demand is expected to generate ripples in the industry, amidst numerous other operational challenges faced by local and foreign investors.
Already, the industry is plagued by massive oil theft, oil spills and corruption, among other factors that prevent the nation from realising its full potential despite its oil resource.
In 2018, Nigeria produced about 2.1 million bpd of oil, up from 1.8 million bpd it produced in 2017.
In 2016, the nation slipped into recession amidst dwindling oil revenue. It exited recession in the second quarter of 2017 after production and prices improved amidst relative stability in its oil-rich Niger Delta region.
The revelation comes as Nigeria prepares to go to the poll in an election described as crucial and keenly contested by analysts.
It is however unclear whether the new tax bill has anything to do with the demands of electioneering.

How to make poultry products affordable in Nigeria

A poultry farmer, Malik Mumuni, has advised poultry farmers to invest more in procuring less costly feeds to make their birds affordable.
Mr Mumuni said local poultry farms can yield more returns in their businesses if they can explore more affordable alternative means of procuring quality feeds for their birds.
The Chief Executive Officer of Malykon Farm Limited gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Monday.
He stressed the need for poultry farms to always consider the viability of farming grains for feed production or purchase grains at cheaper rates from cheaper sources.
“A cheaper source where you can get affordable grains is usually the northern part of the country because of its abundance there.
“Aside the grains, there are other additives you can source for cheaply and they are also available locally. The affordability of these additives depends on who goes to source them for the farmer.
“Basically to enable the local poultry farmer process affordable feeds for his birds, he must be able to procure a feed mill, no matter how small it is even if it going to be a half the size of an average mill.
“You can get affordable locally fabricated feed mills from welders and iron fabricators around your locality, with this you are ready to go into production.” he told NAN.
Mr Mumuni, however, called for adequate training of the local farmers to successfully embark on affordable feed mill processing.
He said a local farmer cannot just go into birds feed production without undergoing necessary training and tutelage on the processing.
The affordability of bird feed, he said, is most times determined by where the farmer stays, and the management of the poultry farms and how he/she wants to mix the components.
People who cut corners in the processing of local bird feeds, he said, usually produce sickly and malnourished birds.
Referring poultry birds as special creatures that must be given special care and attention, Mr Mumuni said rearing birds is just like taking care of an infant.
“The birds cannot complain to the farmer about what it is going through. So, the farmer has to be very observant and careful with the component of their feed.
“Poultry business is an interesting venture. But, you just have to give it extra care and time to get the desired result you want,” Mr Mumuni said.
He also revealed the necessary components and ingredients that a locally processed bird feed should contain in their right percentages.
“There are several ingredients that make up a healthy and well-balanced feed for poultry birds and the farmer must know how to mix them in their right quantities.
“Some of the major components of maize, either the yellow or the white specie. Most feed processors prefer the yellow maize because it is believed to have more nutrients than the white ones.
“Wheat offal or wheat bran is also another important ingredient in bird feeds as well as poultry salts, groundnut cake, and limestone amongst others.
“The composition of ingredients in their varying percentages is determined by the kind of birds you want to feed. We have different feed composition for broilers, layers, cockerels, turkey,” he said. (NAN)

PDP rejects presidential election results

Nigeria’s main opposition party, PDP, has rejected the yet to be concluded result of the presidential election.
The results are currently being announced in Abuja with less than a third of Nigeria’s 36 states already announced.
The PDP, in a statement by its national chairman, Uche Secondus, however, said the results being announced do not tally with what the party has collated across the country.
“Firstly, I want to categorically state that our collation centers have all original results from every polling unit, in every ward, in every Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria, of which the international community is well aware, implying all results currently being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is incorrect thus unacceptable to our party and people,” Mr Secondus said.
Read his full statement below.
Our Democracy is Under Threat
Protocols:
1. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is forced to take a stand and make the following pronouncements at this crucial point because our democracy is under threat of derailment.
2. Firstly, I want to categorically state that our collation centers have all original results from every polling unit, in every ward, in every Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria, of which the international community is well aware, implying all results currently being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is incorrect thus unacceptable to our party and people.
3. Secondly, officials of both President Buhari’s government and the All Progressive Congress (APC), working with INEC officers, have tried to alter the course of history and disenfranchise our people through the cancellation and manipulation of figures for results already announced at polling units, nationwide, in Local Government Areas (LGAs) where our party, the PDP, had commanding votes; this must now be resisted by every well meaning Nigerian.
4. Thirdly, the ruling party’s strategy has indeed been murderous, undignified, and disrespectful of the wishes of the electorate, our people and the international community who have been in solidarity with our nation as we attempt to strengthen our democracy and its institutions.
5. Fourthly, in full view of the watching world, and despite efforts by our great party and its agents to adhere to every laid down provision for the 2019 general elections, the APC in collusion with INEC have taken aggressive steps, mostly through inducements, manipulation and incarcerations, using the elements of state power including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army in particular, alongside other organizations including the Department of State Security (DSS) and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to silence the voices of our long suffering people; this is disheartening, considering the terms of the Peace Accord, which called for impartiality and non-partisanship by members of our security organization with constitutional roles to play during this civic exercise.
6. Fifthly, as results trickled in on the Sunday, February 24th, 2019, clearly putting the PDP in the lead, the ruling party and President Buhari dispatched high-ranking officials to coercively influence outcomes in different geopolitical zones in the country. For example:
I. The minister of the interior, was dispatched to the North West of the country
II. The Secretary of the Government of the Federation was dispatched to the North East of the country; while the
III. The Attorney General and Minister were dispatched to the South East and South-South regions.
7. With the INEC IT server hacked by agents of the APC to manipulate results, we can with certainty state that results from the following polling units have, for example, been tampered with, note:
i. Sarkin Dawaki ward in Doma LGA – Nassarawa state
ii. Doka ward in Doma LGA – Nassarawa state
iii. Agyaragin – Tofa ward
iv. 10, 000 illegal votes added to already announced results in Wurno LGA in Sokoto state
v. Additionally, violent and destructive attacks have been meted out to officials while counting at Lafia St. and police barracks polling units.
8. As if these provocations are not enough, our agents and officials are constantly arrested and in many cases locked-up for complaining that Card Readers were not in use in many Northern states, implying that all results from the Northern part of the country where Card Readers were not used should be voided in accordance with INEC guidelines.
9. I also believe, the arrest of Eng. Buba Galadima, who has been a great symbol of what is courageous about our people goes to show that one man’s ambition is greater than our collective good, and most probably worth the blood of all Nigerians.
10. In that context, I call for Buba Galadima’s immediate and unconditional release, as well as that of all officials and agents of the PDP, in the Southwest, who were mostly arrested on the eve of the elections where intimidation became the APCs sole election strategy.
11. Despite these provocations, intimidation and attempts to hijack our democracy and change the course of history, I must, in fact, convey to our good people the fact that the PDP is on course to victory and the Presidency; therefore, remain resolute and steadfast, because our party shares in your uncertainty and suffering, which must decisively come to a good end for us all.
12. Finally, and once again, we appeal to the leadership of INEC to remain impartial and not become willing agents to disenfranchise our people and derail our democracy, because the world is watching, and history will indeed pass judgment.
In addition, to the international community; we welcome your support for our democracy and extend our gratitude with great hope for our democracy.

Nairobi preacher endorses same sex unions, says bible doesn’t condemn homosexuality

A self proclaimed evangelist has said individuals with an inclination to same sex unions should be allowed freedom to express their feelings
- Jacinta Nzilani, 50, said she was an evangelist and saw nothing wrong with lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community's push for their freedom
- She sensationally claimed the Bible does not outlaw gay sex
- Nzilani confessed she had a liking for women and not men following the demise of her husband
A Nairobi based gospel evangelist has stunned the masses after declaring her full support for same sex unions.
Jacinta Nzilani, 50, unapologetically stated she was in full support of gay sex despite being a full time evangelist of the gospel.
Speaking to the press at Milimani Courts’ premises on Friday, February 22, when the ruling on a petition seeking to decriminalise gay sex was postponed, Nzilani confessed she was herself more attracted to women than men.
She had gone to the court in solidarity with lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community which filed a petition requesting the court to scrap Sections 162 and 165 of the Kenyan Penal Code which criminalises gay sex.
Asked how she could be a gospel evangelist yet at the same time go against biblical principles outlawing homosexuality, Nzilani claimed the Bible did not outlaw same sex unions.
“I am standing with the LGBTQ as a woman of God. The bible is not against gay sex it is only that people understand it differently. The Bible doesn’t condemn or judge just like Jesus never judged,” she argued.
Nzilani observed that Jesus would come for members of the LGBTQ community just like other people who have committed other different sins.

Presidency mounting pressure on INEC to change results in Rivers, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Kogi, Bauchi, others – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded the unconditional release of its member, Buba Galadima, who was allegedly arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS), on Sunday.
The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, in a statement he issued on Sunday in Abuja, said that the party condemned the arrest in the strongest possible terms.
He described Mr Galadima a `patriot’, whose patriotism had been previously and strongly highlighted by various Nigerians including President Muhammadu Buhari.
“What crime has he committed? I answer my own question and say none. Mr Galadima is constitutionally guaranteed a right of freedom of speech and freedom after the speech.”
Mr Secondus said that there were issues of concern in the country that no action had been taken by the law enforcement authorities, “yet a patriot and pro-democracy activist is arrested”.
He expressed concern that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council called for the arrest of Mr Galadima at noon on Sunday and the arrest was duly carried out by the DSS an hour later.
“I call for the immediate release of Galadima by the DSS, even as I remind the service and other security agencies that their oath of allegiance was swor
n to Nigeria and not to the APC. (NAN)
This is as party claimed that it is already aware that the Presidency “has been mounting pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and dispatching officials to change results in Rivers, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Kogi, Bauchi, Cross River, Borno, Yobe and Edo states among others, in a frenzy to allocate fictitious figures for President Muhammadu Buhari.”
In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP alleged that the “Presidency is also threatening the South-East state governors to change results and carve a 25% for Mr. President, a scheme that has already failed.”
The statement further read: “In Bauchi state, we are aware of the plots to move thump-printed ballot papers and fabricated results from Bauchi to Dass Local Government Area to upturn PDP’s victory in the results already delivered and announced at the polling units in the area.

“This is why the electoral officials have been delaying moving the results for final collation and announcement. If this plot fails, the All Progressives Congress, APC, plans to void the results for Dass.”

The party also said its agents and indeed, Nigerians, already have the results as delivered at the polling units and “are not ready to accept anything to the contrary.”

It called on INEC to resist the pressure to go against the will of the people freely expressed on Saturday.

Court Orders Arrest Of Okocha For This Reason

A Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the former Super Eagles Captain, Austin Okocha, a. k. a. Jay Jay Okocha for failure to appear in court several times to answer to why he has allegedly failed to pay his income taxes.
Okocha was dragged before the court by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice for failure to furnish return of his personal income tax.
On June 6, 2017 complaint was filed before the court against the former Super Eagles Captain, the case came up for the first time on Oct. 5, 2017 but he failed to appear in court.
However, after several adjournments without him appearing in court when service had been served on him, the prosecutor urged the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Adedayo Akintoye, on Jan. 29 issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the ex-Supper Eagles Captain and adjourned until February 19, 2019, for him to be produced in court.

Anyone Responsible For Killings During Elections Shall Face The Wrath Of God – Pastor Eneche

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Eneche says any politician responsible for the death of any Nigerian in a bid to win elections shall face the wrath of God.

Enenche made the pronouncement during Sunday Service at the church’s auditorium in Abuja.
The pastor, who was angry with the reports of killings in some parts of the country during Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections, said that bloodshed should not be part of elections.
According to him, whoever is responsible for the shedding of the blood of an innocent Nigerian shall not escape bloodshed.
“It is not by force to lead people because leadership ends when no one is following you and if people don’t like you, let them be.
“Any of you that sponsors killing in the name of delivering your constituency shall not escape being killed by others.
“Jehovah shall deal with all of you who are responsible for the killing that took place all over the country during the elections,” he said.
Enenche warned youths against allowing themselves to be used as political thugs for the selfish gains of their sponsors
He also cautioned security agencies and electoral officers against subverting the will of the people.
According to him, the will of God shall prevail in the country throughout the elections.

woman proposed to marry me in Canada –Kenny Blaq

What makes you travel as much as you do?

I travel outside the country at least twice monthly. I love to travel and more interestingly, I love knowing that I will get paid for the trips I make. I enjoy seeing new countries and experiencing new cultures. I don’t have a problem visiting a country more than once. It’s also nice to get a few days or weeks off living in Nigeria.
What was your most recent travel experience?

I visited Canada in June 2018, and it is such a wonderful country. The only problem with it is that there’s a long distance to commute between states. I toured with Bovi, Ycee and others. The most comforting thing for me there was the easy accessibility to the Internet.
In general, I had a great time there and it was so much fun that I didn’t feel like coming back to Nigeria.

What was the purpose of the travel?

I went to Canada for work. I went for my Kenny Blaq Canada Tour, which was very exciting.

Who paid for it?

The promoter of the show paid for the flights, accommodation and performance fees. Of course, I had some money for my personal spending; to go shopping, watch a movie and other things.

What was your experience going to Canada?

I had been to Canada once before and I went with the Ooni of Ife for an event. This time, I went to do my own show which made the trip even more awesome. Eating African food was one of the most important things that made the trip enjoyable. I met many people who loved my performance and I got to attract some Canadians who became my fans. Some Canadians watched me for the first time and they loved my craft. I even met a lady who wanted to marry me but I put her on hold till the next time I would visit the country, so we can discuss further. I didn’t want people to think I accepted her invite in order to become a citizen of Canada. But it’s ultimately because there is love somewhere in there.

How long did you spend there and what was your living condition?

I spent about two weeks having back-to-back performances. We stayed in a rented apartment for the duration of the trip. I honestly enjoy staying in apartments instead of hotels whenever I travel out of the country. It was an amazing experience and we had so much fun staying in our apartment. We were free to do as we wished – play music as loud as we wanted; store food in the fridge conveniently and so on. We didn’t need to call room service because we had our own services to ourselves. It felt so much like home that when I was leaving, I wanted to take the key away.

Was it anything like you’d imagined and heard or was it different from what you pictured?

Yes, it was in a way. I expected the cold and seeing Caucasians but it’s the distance between places that still kept surprising me. From my location to my next show, it took about two and a half hours by air.

Did you try their food?

I didn’t get to, but I may the next time I go. Looking at the food, I wasn’t sure that it was something I wanted to experiment with but my friends tried it and said it was nice.

What were some of the highlights of your trip?

I had so much fun at the mall, playing and joking around. Some people weren’t sure it was really me; some didn’t know who I was and some were curious to know where I was in the mall. One time, someone was playing music and I began to dance. People then started making videos of me dancing and posted the videos on social media.

Was there a language barrier?

There was no language barrier but I didn’t succeed in learning their language, though I tried. I got a few words but my Yoruba accent kept interfering. In fact, I made friends and they were very friendly. Some were Nigerians, some were Canadians and some were even from different states in America. They showed me around and I visited the Toronto Fashion Academy.

What country do you plan on visiting next?

I can’t wait to visit South Africa. I’ve heard so much about Sun City, Johannesburg and Cape Town, in particular. I love what I see in pictures and videos. I will like to go for a vacation, not just to work. I may also get bookings from there; that’s even a bonus for me if I do.

Gucci Mane and mega-rapper Nicki Minaj have the same taste in fashion after they were spotted wearing the same outfit.

Some fans would describe both Ka’Oir and Minaj’s style as unique and vibrant, but others wouldn’t be so quick to say so. However, a huge social media debate broke loose this past week after both celebs were seen wearing the exact same dress. They both donned a white and multi-colored striped Chanel dress. Ka’Oir, however, jazzed her outfit up with fishnet Chanel socks and white boots

Although Ka’Oir doesn’t appear to fit in the fashion box, fans indicated that she was trying to fit in with Minaj by swagger jacking.

“You gonna copy everything Nicki got😭🤦🏾 damn,” one fan wrote. “Sorry.. but @nickiminaj wore it better 💕

“Nikki wore it better,” another added. “Ya’ll stay copying the Queen.”

Others blasted the Barbz for claiming Ka’Oir copied her style and claimed the model looked better in the dress.

“Nicki fans going out sad 🤣🤣🤷🏽‍♀️,” a fan of Ka’Oir’s wrote. “You are definitely the best dress!! Your style is everything.”

“Whewwww Chile these Barbz mad af 🔥🔥💅🏾😍🤦🏽‍♀️ come up off they neck a lil boo @keyshiakaoir! You can’t fit in when you the goat 🔥,” another added.
Ka’Oir and Minaj can’t seem to stop twinning and have been caught wearing the exact same dress once before. In 2017 just a few days before her wedding, Ka’Oir attended the “Wendy Williams” to promote their BET wedding special “The Mane Event.” During her appearance on the talk show she donned a $2545 Alexander McQueen metallic and black mesh dress. Coincidentally, Minaj was seen wearing the exact same $2,000 designer dress at Grizlee Music awards show a month before.

Either way both celebs appear to have decadent fashion taste.

Cristiano Ronaldo slammed by fans after making angry gesture when Dybala scored

The Portuguese was seen punching the air with his fist when Dybala scored against Bologna
- The 33-year-old failed to score for the Bianconeri in the second consecutive match in five days
Cristiano Ronaldo had a strange celebration when Juventus took the lead against Bologna through Paulo Dybala.
The Bianconeri went 13-points clear in Serie A and the Portuguese is looking to secure his first league title in Italy since leaving Real Madrid last summer.
However the 33-year-old fired blanks as midfielder Dybala got the only goal of the match.
While the score was at 0-0 in the 66th minute, Dybala has been on the pitch for eight minutes after coming on for Alex Sandro.
But the Argentine was at the right place and at the right time when he received the ball from Blaise Matuidi.
But Ronaldo was waiting behind the defence when the ball hits Bologna defender Filip Helander, as it falls kindly to Dybala who finished into the bottom corner.
While teammates were celebrating, Ronaldo hurls his fist through the air in a strange celebration.
After shouting to himself, the 33-year-old then walks over to his team-mates to congratulate Dybala.
But the former Manchester United star had a stony look on his face throughout.
And fans on Twitter slammed the striker for not getting on his name in the scoresheet
“Ronaldo had a s*** game,” one supporter said.
Another commented: “Ronaldo disaster class.”
While a third made a big claim about the forward’s season.
“Ronaldo having his worst game of the season,” they said.

God will judge between my husband and me –Olajumoke Orisaguna

When bread hawker, Olajumoke Orisaguna, walked past the location where photographer, TY Bello, was having a photo session with London-based rapper, Tinie Tempah, in 2016, little did she know that it would alter the course of her life. Her fortunes quickly changed for the better and her story enthralled millions of Nigerians, who were amazed by her good luck. Many further warmed up to her because she usually appeared with her spouse, Sunday, for interviews and she always spoke of him glowingly..
However, it seems there is trouble in their paradise. Sunday Orisaguna recently granted an interview in which he alleged that Jumoke had become rude and no longer respected him.

However, in a chat with Sunday Scoop, Olajumoke denied all the allegations made by her man. She said, “Anybody can say whatever pleases them with their mouth. He is the one that has been spreading such stories. When a man knows everything about you, he can choose to do whatever with that information. As for me, I am okay and there is nothing wrong with me.”

Denying that there was any rift in their union, Olajumoke said, “Whatever is going on is known to God. We are still together. He has never discussed all what he has been saying outside with me, so I don’t understand what he is driving at because we sleep in the same house.

“Well, he can continue saying whatever pleases him but I will not say anything bad about him. There is nobody I will discuss his matter with; I just leave him to God. God will judge between us.”

Asked if Sunday was displeased because she no longer gave him money, Olajumoke said, “Now you understand what I have been saying. I do not need to break it down beyond that; you already know what I mean. I will not say anything bad about him. I have handed him to God.”

Refusing to categorically reveal her future plans as regards building a house, the former bread seller said, “There is nobody that would pray to live in a rented apartment for five years, and at the end of that time, not have something tangible to call his or her own. However, it is not everything one plans to do that is made public. One has to keep certain things within one as an elder. We all know where the shoe pinches.”

Reacting to the claims that things started going downhill for her after she left her former manager, Azuka Ogujuiba, Olajumoke said, “Azuka was one of the people that assisted me at the inception of my career. She is usually busy and that is why I decided to change my manager. I still communicate regularly with Azuka and we have even spoken today (Thursday). She and TY Bello are like sisters to me.”

Olajumoke said she hadn’t become a spendthrift since she came to the limelight. “I have always been a good manager. Even when I was working in the bakery, I knew how to manage the resources available to me. Can you imagine a man not working for two years and being fed by a woman?”

What female pants are use for?? and how they are distributed in Nigeria

Everyday in Nigeria, one is inundated with one horrifying news or the other.More bewildering, is the recent trend in stealing of female pants and menstruation pads for money rituals, by internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo Yahoo Boys. TheCyber crime began at the initial stage with the intent to swindle gullible persons, within and outside the country.
With time, these criminally minded persons, devised new techniques to satisfy their excessive crave for wealth, with yahoo yahoo graduating into yahoo plus, owing to the introduction of diabolic acts.

First, it began with hypnotizing victims and it gradually progressed to sleeping with ladies; be they commercial sex workers or girlfriends of perpetrators. At the end of the sexual intercourse, the yahoo plus individual, would clean the lady’s semen with a white cloth which would thereafter, be taken to their herbalists who would prepare some rituals with them. After the ritual is performed, the lady in question would either fall ill or die.

Excreta

Today, several methods have been introduced. This include eating of excreta, which came to limelight about three years now. Used babies diapers were not left out, as they were reportedly picked from dump sites by agents employed to gather them for users. In February last year, news of how a lady caught her ex-boyfriend discussing how he ate bread and excreta as part of activities for money rituals went viral
The lady, Barbie Ulonna, had gone to visit her boyfriend, when she overheard him discussing the sore moment he consumed faeces, in a conversation with his friend.

She also, attributed a kiss she shared with the undisclosed boyfriend as a reason she had mouth infection.

Urine

Strange as it may sound, today, there is also a new trend of using urine for ritual purpose. In this case, if one urinates on the sand, a yahoo plus member will pack the sand stained with the urine, to his herbalist who would prepare the rituals.

Female pants

But the most trendy of them all is the stealing of female pants. Saturday Vanguard gathered that the targets are mainly female between 16 to 32 years. A stolen pant under this category as revealed by some suspects, is sold between N200,000 and N300,000, while agents who scout for them are paid between N20,000 and N30,000.

The price for pants of virgins or any lady who is confirmed not to have aborted, as learned, is higher and its said potency unmatched by the rest.

Findings also revealed that discharges from ladies virginals are what herbalists use to prepare the rituals.

Immediately that occurs, owners of the used pants would start getting emaciated without cure, except through God’s intervention. Sometimes, victims will remain barren for life. This methods as reliably gathered, was imported from other African countries.

One would have expected such pseudoscience acts to be obsolete, going by the sprawling worship centres across the length and breadth of the country and the exposure of Nigerians.

But investigation by Saturday Vanguard revealed that stealing of pants for ritual purpose is not only used for yahoo plus but by politicians as well, as pant theft was discovered to be in the increase as the elections drew closer.

Record showed that news of this new pattern started from Delta and Edo states before it spread to other states.

Delta State

Ugheli : On December 9, 2018, a young man was caught by local guards at Agbarha, Delta State, with stolen female pants and braziers. When he was questioned by a mob who beat him to a pulp, he revealed that a man whom he approached to reveal his source of wealth to him, instructed him to get female under-wares.
According to him, “Any time I visit Tozak hotel, Ugheli, some boys would be spending lavishly. One day, I picked up to N5,000 from the amount they sprayed on people. When I summoned courage to ask them how they made their money, they told me to get female pants and bras and bring them to the hotel. But I only got bra, I am yet to get pants”.Umutu Community

Again, on January 2, 2019, in Umutu community in Delta State , two suspected pant thieves, were arrested with 10 female pants. They confessed during interrogation by an angry mob that they had been in the business after being frustrated out of school owing to poverty.

In this case, the duo of Emeka Nwosa and Jerry Obi, according to residents, forced a 15-year-old girl in the community who was on her way to the farm, to pull her pants and give to them.
